Claremont Introduces CodeRed
By Tisza Major-Posner | June 26, 2007
A visit to the Claremont City homepage today told me about CodeRED. I thought it was such important information that I pared it down and am presenting it below.
What is CodeRED?
CodeRED is an emergency contact system designed to be able to call up to 60,000 phone numbers per hour to provide pre-recorded emergency information.
Where Did It Come From?
This high-speed, state of the art phone system was purchased by the City of Claremont with a grant from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency and the State Office of Emergency Services.
How Does It Work?
This emergency notification system is designed to quickly and efficiently contact residents and business owners by telephone, cellphone or answering machine in order to provide information or instructions.
Who Will Be Using The Information?
The Claremont Police Department will be using phone numbers provided by Verizon. There is also an Internet sign up sheet available to make sure that your most correct contact information is available to the athorities.
Again CodeRED will be used for EMERGENCY CONTACT ONLY.
