Too Toxic To Trash - Household Hazardous and E-Waste Round Up

    By Tisza Major-Posner | April 16, 2007

Reduce Reuse Recycle Arrowse-waste logoHi All,

On Saturday, June 2, 2007 from 9 AM to 3 PM at the L.A. County Fair Hotel and Exposition Complex, Gate 23, Arrow Highway, Pomona there wil be a FREE Household Hazardous Waste disposal collection site set up.

Business waste will NOT be accepted.

This is your chance to safely, appropriately and in an environmentally responsible way, get rid of all those pesky chemicals like paint thinner, brake fluid, motor oil, anti-freeze and pesticides hanging around in your garage or storage shed. You can also bring household and car batteries (You do save them for events like this and don’t throw them in the trash can where they can pollute the environment, right?), old computer monitors (working or dead), computer CPU’s (be sure to wipe the hard drive or remove it so that any personal information is not recoverable), keyboards, cell phones, flourescent light bulbs, etc.

Any LA County resident is welcome to participate. Just bring the items that you wish to dispose of in a sturdy box, preferably in their original labeled containers. Don’t mix items together. There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip (you can make multiple trips). Be prepared to leave the containers and boxes that you transport the items in at the round-up. Also, make sure that the only things in your trunk are items that you wish to have disposed of.
You can not bring hazardous waste and electronic waste from businesses. You also can not bring explosives, ammunition or radioactive materials, trash or tires, or refrigerators, stoves and washing machines.

For more information on what you can or can not bring, or for more information on this or other upcoming events contact: 1(888) CLEAN-LA www.888CleanLA.com or 1(800) 238-0172 www.lacsd.org

      Hi Jonathan,

You may not know it too look at me, but although I bleed red, inside I am all green. Things like this are close to my heart and you will probably see more of this type of thing here soon.

Thank you for reading and participating.

      Have a great day!
